Lassen County in northern California
These are from a trip via Susanville in northern California to attractions around Klamath Falls in southern Oregon. The Oregon section will be in a separate gallery.
The first day was weakly sunny in Susanville and around big Lake Almanor. I included only two drone videos from that day because the light and color were so poor.
Interesting notes: The tarn lakes are snowmelt off the peaks, and the peaks themselves are mere remnants of the mighty Mount Tehama, which blew up a half-million years ago.
Second day: Wouldn't you know, yesterday's forecast that rain, wind and cloud were coming was completely wrong! The second day was sunny, reasonably calm and glorious for color.
As you can imagine, many of the first day's items have disappeared and the sunny parts from day 2 will remain. I left a couple from the first day to show what an amazing difference the Sun makes.
Day 3 began sunny, and before the wind and clouds came in I got in a brief flight at Eagle Lake.
Later flights were at the Prattville Butt Lake Reservoir and dam, and the huge Lake Almanor.
